Suggested Materials:
Paper Cups, Lemon Juice, Pennies
Help your child learn about pennies by giving them a pile of them to clean. All you need is some dull pennies. Have your child put the pennies in a cup and cover with lemon juice. Leave in the lemon juice for 5 minutes. Remove and dry. Pennies are made of shinny copper but become oxidized and the acid in lemon juice removes the oxide and lets them shine again.

Suggested Materials:
Empty Cake Frosting Containers
It seems like I always have extra open paint at the art area. I don’t want to throw it away so I save the cake frosting containers to store my paint in. The lids save the paint from drying and children can easily access them as they need to. Talk to the children about recycling and help them think of ways we can recycle material so that we don’t have to purchase new ones….in this instance paint containers.
